Congresswoman Ramirez: ‘The true threat to our homeland security is Felon Musk, Trump, and their blatant misuse of power’

February 5, 2025

Washington, DC - Today, Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez (IL-03) used her time during a Homeland Security Committee to call her Republican colleagues to take seriously the security breach being perpetrated by Elon Musk. Ramirez, a member of the Oversight, Investigations, and Accountability Subcommittee, pointed out the hypocrisy of holding a hearing on the cyber security workforce while ignoring that a private citizen has stolen the Department of Treasury’s data, including the Social Security and Medicare payment systems, exposing Americans’ sensitive information.

“Under a Musk and Trump presidency, it’s clear that the security of Americans’ information is not a priority. I mean, a private civilian with no security clearance bullied his way into the Treasury, set up private servers, and stole sensitive information from an agency. If that isn’t a national security crisis, a CYBERSECURITY crisis –then what is?” said Congresswoman Ramirez. “The true threat to our homeland security is ‘fElon’ Musk, Trump, and their blatant misuse of power to steal information and coerce employees to leave agencies. The billionaire boss and his puppet – I’ll let you decide which is which – are on a mission of privatization for their own profit.”

Elon Musk's business utilizes personal data for advertising and generating revenues. Ramirez believes the Treasury data could be exploited to enrich Musk’s companies, which raises concerns about privacy and security.
