Appropriations Requests
The U.S. House Committee on Appropriations is responsible for allocating all federal discretionary spending, which is money formally approved by Congress and the President during the appropriations process each year. Under our Constitution, no such spending can occur unless first appropriated (authorized and allocated) by Congress. Members of the U.S. House are able to submit requests to the Committee for inclusion in the annual appropriations bills. Because the number of requests added to the final appropriations bill is limited, the Committee prioritizes them based on the type of request and support from other Members of Congress.
Types of Requests:
- Programmatic Request: A request for general support or funding for a federal program.
- Language Request: A request to add language to the yearly appropriations bill or report to accompany the bill, which often does not include dollar amounts.
- Community Project Funding: Information regarding Community Project Funding can be found here.
While the House Appropriations Committee has yet to release its formal guidance for FY26, our office’s application is open. We ask that you submit FY26 requests by March 14th, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. CST(date subject to change based on formal guidance).
To submit a programmatic request or language request, fill out this form completely and accurately with all the information required. If you have multiple requests, please fill out a separate form for each request.
