The Congressional App Challenge is designed to engage student creativity and encourage their participation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education fields. This nationwide event allows high school students from across the country to compete against their peers by creating and exhibiting their software application, or "app," for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of their choice.

The U.S. House Committee on Appropriations is responsible for allocating all federal discretionary spending, which is money formally approved by Congress and the President during the appropriations process each year. Under our Constitution, no such spending can occur unless first appropriated (authorized and allocated) by Congress. Members of the U.S. House are able to submit requests to the Committee for inclusion in the annual appropriations bills.
