Ramirez Statement on 3 Years Since Putin’s Invasion of Ukraine

Washington, DC — Today, Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez (IL-03) released the following statement marking three years of Putin’s war on Ukraine. Ramirez’s statement also calls for Trump to recognize that a resolution to this war can’t come without Ukraine's sovereignty.

“For three years, Ukrainians have been under attack by Putin, a dictator, a warmonger, and an extremist. HE illegally invaded a sovereign, democratic nation. Let’s not rewrite history. While the Trump administration has voiced support for Russia’s wildest claims, I will not turn my back on Ukraine. 

On this the 3rd anniversary of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, I affirm my support for the Ukrainian people, their sovereignty and self-determination, and their right to live in peace and security. Ukraine must be included in peace talks. Their sovereignty must be defended. Their people must be given the freedom and safety to recover from Putin’s attacks.
