NEWS: Congresswoman Delia Ramirez Statement on First Day of Black History Month

February 1, 2023

Today on the first day of Black History Month, our shared responsibility of telling the truth about America - past and present - is essential for the future of our multiracial Democracy. That’s why I’m honored to be an original cosponsor of Congressman Jamaal Bowman’s and Senator Cory Booker’s African American History Act to ensure free access to educational resources that tell the truth of the American story, which includes America’s original sin of slavery. The National Museum of African American History and Culture plays a critical role in making these educational opportunities available and accessible to students, families, and educators for free and on a voluntary basis. We are showing children they deserve direct access to African American history educational resources because we prioritize the truth over fear and hate.
