Congresswoman Ramirez Statement on YES vote on Child Tax Credit and Affordable Housing

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez (IL-03) released the following statement after voting in support of the Bipartisan Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act:

“Yesterday, I voted YES for the families of approximately 587,000 children in Illinois who will benefit from additional money in their pockets to pay for child care, afford rent, and nutritious food. I voted YES for the tax credits that will help us realize the development of 200,000 affordable, safe housing units in our nation for low-income families. But let’s be clear, it is only a start. I am disappointed that the massive tax breaks for big corporations far exceeded the benefits for American families. We can and must treat the legislation as the floor, not the ceiling, and ensure that all children, especially those in families left behind in this tax bill, see the benefits of our legislation.”
