Congresswoman Ramirez Statement on Failed Secretary Mayorkas Impeachment

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez (IL-03) released the following statement after voting NO on the articles of impeachment brought by extreme Republicans against the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas:

“After a month of manipulating our democracy for the TV cameras, photo ops, sound bites, and fundraising emails, extreme Republicans brought to the House Floor two baseless articles of impeachment against Secretary Mayorkas. The articles of impeachment, which had no legitimate basis, did not stand up to scrutiny and failed to get the necessary votes to pass. Now that this act of their performance is over, I invite Republicans to finally join us in doing the work that really matters. Let's pass policies to address the humanitarian crisis within our border, protect our communities, including asylum seekers, and combat the root causes of migration."
